We created Data2Reality to connect faculty and staff who need help with data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning with students who have those skills.

Faculty & Staff
You get hands-on technical support for your projects.It works like a request-for-proposal portal. Faculty and staff post a project with its details, scope, and timeline. Students browse the requests and submit proposals describing how they would tackle the work. You review the proposals, choose the best fit, and start collaborating. Posting projects is open to members of the TAMIDS Research Affiliate Network (RAN). Membership is free and open to the whole Texas A&M community.
Students
You get real-world experience on Texas A&M projects.You browse project requests posted by faculty and staff, each with its details, scope, and timeline. You pick a project and submit a proposal describing your approach, skills, and availability. If the faculty or staff member selects your proposal, you start collaborating and build experience in proposal writing, project planning, and communication along the way. All Texas A&M undergraduate and graduate students can browse projects and submit proposals.

What kinds of projects fit?
If it involves data, code, or a model you haven’t had time to build, it’s probably a good fit. A rough idea is enough to start, and you can describe what the finished product should look like.
Clean and analyze a dataset
Turn messy survey, field, or lab data into a clean, documented dataset with first-pass analysis.
Build a dashboard
Create an interactive dashboard that tracks program, lab, or unit metrics.
Train a machine learning model
Classify images, predict outcomes, or find patterns in large datasets.
Work with text and language
Analyze documents, interviews or social media with natural language processing.
Automate a workflow
Replace a manual, repetitive reporting or data-entry process with code.
Map and visualize
Build maps, figures, and visualizations for papers, grants, or presentations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Data2Reality cost anything?
No. Data2Reality is free for Texas A&M faculty, staff, and students. Sign in with your NetID.
I’m not sure how to do the project. Can I still post?
Yes. Describe what you want the final product to look like. Students will propose how to get there.
Can I work with more than one student?
Yes. You can accept one or more proposals for a project.
Do I need funding to post a project?
No. Not all projects are funded. If you can’t offer a stipend, hourly wage, or assistantship, consider other rewards such as a small scholarship, author credit, or recognition at an event.
Can I set requirements, such as an NDA or citizenship?
Yes. Use the Project Restrictions field to describe requirements for sensitive data or other limits. Students must say whether they meet them.
Who can see my project and the proposals?
Students can see all posted projects, but not each other’s proposals. Faculty and staff see only their own projects and the proposals submitted to them.
