Student Travel Grant
Student Travel Grant Program
Helping students attend and present at data science-related conferencesThe Student Travel Grant Program supports undergraduate and graduate students who wish to attend and/or present at conferences in any domain of Data Science, AI, and Machine Learning. To be in the scope of this grant, the work reported should involve an innovation in systems, methods, or algorithms for data collection and management, modeling, analysis, or decision making, or the use of these for knowledge discovery in application domains.
Criteria and Funding
Students are eligible to receive up to $500 in support. The amount of funding awarded depends on the overlap between the program’s stated scope of support and the student’s financial needs. Funds will be transferred to the student’s academic department for reimbursement purposes.
Applications are reviewed at the end of each month, and a limited number of grants will be available each semester, depending on funding. Prospective applicants should check on availability before applying.
General Application Guidelines:
- Each student may receive no more than one grant each academic year under the program.
- Students must be enrolled in a graduate degree program or an undergraduate honors program and be in good academic standing (at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA).
- The academic or research advisor providing the letter of support must be a member of the TAMIDS Research Affiliate Network.
- Preference will be given to students whose travel aligns with the program’s relevance and scope, when other sources of support are limited or unavailable, and/or when the event has a significant impact on the student’s professional development, as detailed in the faculty Letter of Support.
All travel supported by TAMIDS must conform to Texas A&M University’s travel policy.
Award Acknowledgment and Reporting of Outputs
Awardees are required to acknowledge TAMIDS support in all scholarly and public outputs arising from this award. Appropriate acknowledgment language should reference “Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS)” and, when possible, the Student Travel Grant program.
In addition, awardees agree to provide citations, copies, or links to these outputs as part of TAMIDS reporting and program evaluation activities
