Data Science Capstone Program
Capstone Sponsorship
Capstone projects aim to apply students’ knowledge of data science methods and technologies to real-world data. The goal of these projects is to facilitate student learning by giving them hands-on experience with real datasets and interacting with sponsoring researchers. This gives students a chance to build a background in applied data science and discover potential career opportunities. In turn, sponsors can benefit from these projects by developing relationships with students and faculty throughout the project’s timeline and bringing brand awareness to their company.
Sponsor Objective and ROI
The objective of the sponsor is to designate a project, serve as a liaison and mentor for students’ questions, and offer innovative approaches from their industry. Sponsors are typically a representative of an external organization (industry, government, non-profit organization, etc.) or a Texas A&M faculty member. Sponsors are responsible for posing the project’s problem, providing the data, explaining the project goals and context, and guiding students throughout the execution of their project. In return, sponsors receive brand awareness for their company and potentially earn more revenue. They are also the point of contact for TAMIDS for administrative matters associated with the project.
