This week, the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS) welcomed the first cohort of students into the Master of Science in Data Science program. We look forward to having this exceptional group of students studying at Texas A&M University!
In the 30 credit-hour on-campus interdisciplinary program, students follow a common core in the first semester, followed by electives focused around four departmental tracks: Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and Electrical and Computer Engineering. The program was developed jointly between TAMIDS and the Colleges of Science and Engineering. TAMIDS also provides a number of scholarships for students in the program.
At the student orientation event, TAMIDS Director Dr. Nick Duffield encouraged students to engage with the wider Texas A&M Data Science community, both through TAMIDS weekly seminar and tutorial series, its Data Science Traineeship program, Discovery Hackathons, and its Student Data Science Competition, and the vibrant collection of student-led events and organizations, including TAMU Datathon, TidalTamu and the Texas A&M Data Analytics Club.
As these students begin the fall semester, applications for Fall 2022 will open on September 15th. Prospective students can visit the TAMIDS MS Data Science website for program and application information or contact TAMIDS Program Coordinator Christi Retzer.
