Truly Interdisciplinary. The Departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mathematics, and Statistics collaborate with the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science to offer the Data Science Graduate Program, an on-campus interdisciplinary program within the university’s Colleges of Engineering and Arts & Sciences.
Boundless Opportunities. Each of the four academic departments offers a track in the program, and the multidisciplinary curriculum provides students with a solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, computer science, and machine learning through core courses. After that, students can choose from the elective courses offered by the various participating departments.
Professional & Research Upskilling. Designed to be completed in three semesters and requiring 30 credit hours, the program is nimble enough to allow professionals to upskill quickly while providing students with the time and training necessary to excel in data-intensive research and projects.

About the Four Customizable Tracks
TAMIDS partners with four academic departments, each offering a track and several elective courses to personalize your experience in our program.
These tracks include Statistics (STAT) and Mathematics (MATH) in the College of Arts & Sciences and Computer Science & Engineering (CSCE) and Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECEN) in the College of Engineering. Students choose a track when they apply and stay in that track for the duration of their studies, but they can take electives from other participating departments. You can review the different track courses on the Curriculum Overview page.
Every graduate of the MSDS program gain proficiency in advanced mathematics, analytics, computer programming, artificial intelligence, and data governance, therefore preparing them to tackle real-world challenges and uncover valuable insights from data.

Applicants are encouraged to play to their strengths by applying to the track that most closely aligns with the disciplinary background of their bachelor’s degree. Prospective students apply to and are admitted to their chosen track. Because admitted students are required to take three or more electives from their track department, admissions staff assess applicants’ preparation to succeed in the electives of their chosen track.
When you graduate, you receive your Master of Science in Data Science degree from the College of Engineering (for CSCE and ECEN tracks) or the College of Arts & Sciences (for STAT and MATH tracks).
