Create data science projects to meet your needs!
The TAMIDS Data2Reality Project Matching Program connects skilled students with staff and faculty needing specialized support in data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. In this program, we aim to support staff and faculty with technical challenges by matching them with students with technical skills, provide students with hands-on experience, and expand data science literacy in the Texas A&M community and beyond!
Anyone can participate! Undergraduate and graduate students from any degree program within the Texas A&M system, including the Galveston and Qatar campuses. Faculty and staff from TAMU, TEES, TEEX, AgriLife Research and Extension, or TTI are also able to participate.
How does it work?
Skilled students are matched with faculty through a simple Request-Proposal system and faculty and staff select the best proposals from multiple students. Projects require faculty and staff to work with students to develop an action plan to meet agreed-upon goals and deliverables. Projects can vary in difficulty and duration but are designed for one student to accomplish them in the required timeframe. Not all projects are funded, but students should be rewarded for finishing challenging and time-consuming deliverables with rewards such as:
- certificates of achievement
- stipend or scholarship
- hourly wage
- graduate assistantship
- gift cards
- mentorship and networking
- authorship credit on poster or article
- course credit
The faculty/staff request will include a basic request description, 4-5 keywords, and available resources, funding, and datasets. Student proposals should include their resume, proposal description, deliverables, and availability.
