The Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS) invites you to attend the 2022 TAMIDS Data Science Webinar series starting on Feb 22, 2022. This webinar series will introduce some intermediate and advanced topics of Data Science to Texas A&M students and researchers.
Presenter:

Dr. Yalong Pi is a Postdoctoral Data Scientist in the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS) at Texas A&M University since 2020. He obtained a Ph.D. in Architecture from Texas A&M University (2020), a Master’s Degree of Civil Engineering (2013) from Wuhan Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (2011) from Wuhan Textile University. He is a certified Architectural Engineer in China. His research focuses on machine learning (computer vision) and data mining, applications in domains including disaster reconnaissance, transportation, construction automation, and building information modeling.
Time:
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM, Feb 22nd
Description:
Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) technique is applied in many fields including self-driving cars, medical diagnoses, and smart monitoring. This topic covers PyTorch, one of the popular Python machine learning packages, with an emphasis on established CNN architectures and pre-trained weights. A hands-on dog image classification session will walk through data collection, model modification, and performance analysis.
Prerequisites:
Familiarity with Python, fundamentals of statistics, and probability theory.
