Call for Teachers, Mentors & Datasets
The Texas Data Analytics Club, in association with the Texas A&M Department of Statistics and the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS) is currently planning the first ever Texas A&M Datathon to take place in October 2019, and we are looking for mentors and teachers to teach bite-size data science workshops for the event. A datathon is a one-weekend student led event where hundreds of students from several universities come to learn about data science and compete for company and university prizes.
Since data science skills are such a hot commodity in nearly every field nowadays, we want to offer two tracks during the datathon: learner and competitor. The goal is to have enough workshops so that those in the learner track can “graduate” from the event with a certificate verifying the skills they learned. We are looking for teachers and also mentors. Mentors are people who are a resource for learners and competitors during the event to help them with their data science projects.
The Texas Data Analytics Club is an organization on campus, established in 2017, that seeks to promote and educate data science for all Texas A&M students. It hosts technical trainings, workshops, and corporate networking throughout the semester. To see what a Datathon looks like at another school, see Brown’s.
