Dr. Sabit Ekin Joins TAMIDS as Research Coordination Fellow

TAMIDS is excited to share that Dr. Sabit Ekin has joined our team as a Research Coordination Fellow. Dr. Ekin is an Associate Professor in the Texas A&M Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Texas A&M in 2012 and has received multiple honors, including the DOE Early Career Award, and was named the Albrecht Naeter Endowed Professor of ECE in 2022. His research interests include wireless communications theory and applications, hybrid RF/optical wireless communication system design, and wireless sensing and its applications in health monitoring.

Dr. Ekin will serve as Director of the TAMIDS Generative AI Literacy Initiative that is supported through our membership of OpenAI’s NexGenAI Consortium. In March 2025, Texas A&M joined this groundbreaking collaboration with other leading institutions in AI research and education. The Generative AI Literacy Initiative will support and collaborate with faculty to develop innovative education and training in the methods of Generative AI, promote a more expansive understanding of their potential, and explore how Generative AI can be used more broadly for instruction. 

We are pleased to have Dr. Ekin leading the way in increasing generative AI literacy and empowering students, researchers, and beyond with knowledge of this cutting-edge technology.
