SUMMARY:Workshop on Digital Twins in Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing
DESCRIPTION:We would like to invite you to our upcoming Workshop on Digital Twins in Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing – a joint effort from the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS) and Texas A&M Semiconductor Institute (TSI). \n\n\n\nThe primary focus of this workshop is to assess both our internal capacities and external partnerships\, with the aim of aligning them to meet the requirements of the NIST solicitation. \n\n\n\n\n\nYour presence and active engagement at this workshop are crucial. Your insights and contributions will play a pivotal role in shaping our strategies moving forward. Please register as soon as possible\, to ensure we have an accurate count for lunch and the workshop activities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n\nView the Event Flyer\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe CHIPS Manufacturing USA Institute\n\n\n\nOn August 9\, 2022\, President Biden enacted the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act\, allocating $52 billion to rejuvenate the U.S. semiconductor sector and bolster both economic and national security. As part of the initiative\, NIST and the US Department of Commerce have issued a Notice of Intent for the CHIPS Manufacturing USA Institute. The expected competition will seek to establish a single Manufacturing USA Institute with a minimum expected NIST commitment of approximately $200 million over a 5-year period. This institute will pioneer the development of cutting-edge digital twin technologies for semiconductor manufacturing\, packaging\, and assembly and the validation of such digital twins in a physical prototyping facility. Further information can be found in the NIST presentation from the February 12\, 2024\, Industry Day. \n\n\n\nCoordinating the Texas A&M Response\n\n\n\nThe Texas A&M Semiconductor Institute and organizational partners at the University and System level (including the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science\, the Digital Twin Lab) are coordinating to determine the potential capabilities of a CHIPS Manufacturing USA Institute centered in Texas or that includes a substantial Texas coalition\, and measures that can enhance these capabilities in the short to medium term. \n\n\n\nTo inform this initiative\, a Workshop on Digital Twins and Semiconductor Manufacturing will be held on March 22 at the McFerrin Center for Entrepreneurship. The aims of the workshop are to: \n\n\n\n\nAssess the landscape for research funding and industry trends in Digital Twins and Semiconductor Manufacturing\n\n\n\nIdentify Texas A&M research expertise and related programs in education\, training\, and outreach that could address the anticipated opportunity\, and enhance team-building across relevant domains and verticals.\n\n\n\nIdentify collaborating researchers and organizations in the areas of Digital Twins and Semiconductor Manufacturing–such as universities\, industry\, national labs\, standards bodies\, government\, and development agencies–that could partner with Texas A&M in response to the anticipated opportunity. \n\n\n\nIdentify needs for additional resources for research\, education\, training\, or outreach that would enhance Texas A&M’s competitiveness for major funding in the area\n\n\n\nIdentify strategic measures at the university level to enhance Texas A&M’s capabilities in responding to anticipated opportunities.\n\n\n\n\nSpecific output from the workshop will be a white paper summarizing Texas A&M capabilities\, opportunities and priorities for a response to the anticipated competition and for further work and initiatives in this area. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWorkshop Details\n\n\n\nEvent Flyer PDFDate & Time: Friday\, March 22 | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PMLocation: McFerrin Center for Entrepreneurship; 2 Research Park\, 1700 Research Pkwy\, College Station\, TX 77845Contact Information: Leigh CherrySenior Administrative Coordinator ITexas A&M Semiconductor Institutelcherry@tamus.edu
