Dr. Brittany Garcia is a post-doctoral research associate in the TAMIDS Data Justice Lab who received her Ph.D. from the School of Architecture at Texas A&M. Last month, she attended the CyberPsychology, CyberTherapy, and Social Networking Conference (CYPSY) in Arizona to present her findings from her dissertation about virtual remote collaboration and how to design virtual reality applications for a better user experience.

Presentations at CYPSY span a wide variety of topics including Extended Reality (VR, AR, MR), computational neuroscience, social media and online behavior (dating apps, cyberbullying, etc.), human-computer interaction, robotics, digital ethics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other emerging areas.
Brittany received the Young Minds Student Poster Research Award for her poster entitled, “Transitioning from Remote Work to Virtual Collaboration: Designing Effective VR Environments.” The award is given to projects that have “the greatest potential to contribute to the innovative field of cyberpsychology, cybertherapy, training, and rehabilitation.”
